  Layering order is honestly the bit most guys miss. I switched to oil first on a damp beard so it actually absorbs, then a small amount of balm to seal everything in — that made more difference than swapping brands ever did. For anyone reading the comments: I use beard butter as a night treatment and save the balm for daytime when I want a bit of hold.
